Alyssa Green | Karma I am Alyssa Green, I currently work as a legal assistant in DC and am working on my start-up, non-profit organization. This organization is so dear to my heart because I really value the opportunity I have to give back to my community. As a first-generation American (parents from Jamaica), growing up in a predominately white area, with a lot of valuable resources at my fingertips, I did not realize how “good I had it” in terms of exposure. As a freshman at North Carolina A&T State University, I began to realize that not everyone was given an opportunity to have an internship at a law firm at 16, not because they were not intelligent or lazy, but because they just were not a afforded the opportunity due to their circumstance. It was as a freshman I knew that I wanted to even the playing field, I wanted to be a part of bridging the gap for young people that are a little less fortunate than I was but still had all the same ability.

She wouldn’t have had so much success and satisfaction on the job had it not been for regular training, mentorship and a feeling of accountability. Through the years she continued using client retention, and training skills to produce at high levels for multiple organizations including a well-known banking organization, a natural gas and welding supplies distributor, and a high-end interior design center.
