5 Surefire Strategies to Help You Win the Day

5 Surefire Strategies to Help You Win the Day

Smart leaders begin the day with a set of personalized success strategies. Despite the appearance of “effortlessness” in their daily routines, there is a secret to their savvy appeal. They have identified valuable tricks, tools, and strategies to help them “win the day.” Of course not everything will work for everyone. You must discover what works for you.  And, once you do, remember that the magic happens when you actually use what works! [space]

Here are 5 strategies to help you ‘win the day’ and maximize your overall success: [space]

1. Get Up—don’t you dare hit that snooze button! [space]

You set your alarm clock for a reason. Yes, you did. I know it feels awkward when the blaring sound of an alarm clock goes off and you’re nestled comfortably in your bed. But, if you don’t get up and out on time, it will send you and your day into a downward spiral.  Rushing, forgetting something important, and being late—all have the potential to wreak havoc on your day—all because you didn’t get up on time. Just do yourself a favor and GET UP! You can thank yourself later. [space]

2. Get Some Exercise [space]

To achieve optimum health and well being, we must engage in daily physical activity.  The result is that you feel and perform better, not to mention the coveted esoteric benefits! The most common excuse for not exercising is a “lack of time.” But, the truth is that you make time for what’s important. If you don’t prioritize it, then obviously it’s not important. Decide to achieve optimum health and well being by exercising daily. [space]

3. Eat Breakfast [space]

No time to eat breakfast in the morning? No problem! You have a few great options: pack a lite breakfast (fruit yogurt, granola/granola bar, etc.); pack a heavier breakfast that can be heated later (pancakes, eggs, bacon/sausage, etc.); or create a budget that comfortably allows you to purchase something each morning. In any case, your mind, body, and spirit are all affected by the presence or absence of this “most important” meal of the day. [space]

4. Schedule White Space [space]

We’re grossly accustomed to being busy.  Bombarded by deadlines, schedules, and obligations, we easily fall into obsessive occupation. More often than not, however, we simply need to be still. Taking needed time to do nothing and enjoy the clarity we experience can renew our spirits and give us life. Practice this on a daily basis and enjoy the peace that it brings. [space]

5. Schedule and Execute Musts [space]

Anything we desire can easily become a “should” rather than a must because we fail to elevate its importance and insulate it from daily distractions. The first way to elevate the importance of a task is to schedule it. That’s right. Put it on the calendar, in the Day-Timer, or the electronic organizer. Now, its real—it’s anticipated and you are expected to execute on it. Open your scheduling system first thing in the morning and actively pursue your musts, one task at a time. Don’t overschedule, though.  Remember that the musts are extra-important, so there shouldn’t be very many. Limit yourself to 3. [space]

A Little Homework – Just in Case [space]

Not sure if these 5 strategies will work for you? There are many ways that you can approach this, with the goal being to identify strategies that help you build more success into your day.  Begin by brainstorming the basic things that you need to accomplish in a given day.  Then, determine a few ways that you can achieve them. After trying them out, decide what works and what doesn’t. Repeat the process until you’ve amassed a personalized toolbox of strategies that work for you! [space]
