Women of Color and the Pay Gap

We’ve all heard this scary statistic about the pay gap between men and women: Women earn about 77 cents for every dollar that a man makes.

According to the National Women’s Law Center, African American women earn 64 cents, Hispanic women 56 cents, for every dollar paid to white men.

The Mars Venus part of the equation, however, may have more to do with the fact that many women do not feel comfortable when it comes to negotiating for fair pay.

Women pay as much as $1,353 to avoid negotiating the price of a car.

According to Women Don’t Ask.com, women expect to earn between 3% and 32% less than men for the same job.
