Meet the new 'It Girls' of Walker's Legacy

Walker’s Legacy is pleased to announce our 2014 – 2015 class of amazing interns from across the country.   Please read below to learn more about these rock star women who are helping to take our organization to the next level.

Headshot - Fantasia McGuffie (1)Fantasia McGuffie, Intern  [ATLANTA]

Growing up in Atlanta, Georgia, one of the nation’s most diverse cities, Fantasia McGuffie has embraced her calling of service. This modern day Renaissance woman has managed to devote the early part of her life to volunteering and improving her community. She has served many roles within several organizations throughout the city of Atlanta, including: Jumpstart, Hands On Atlanta, Collegiate 100 of the 100 Black Men of Atlanta, and Benjamin E. Mays High School’s Alumni Association to name a few. Currently, she is a full-time senior at Georgia State University pursuing a Bachelors degree in Public Policy Administration.

She has cultivated her skills through her professional experience as an independent consultant, personal assistant, and social media marketer. Most recently, McGuffie has worked on a political campaign, as a loaned executive with United Way, and as a freelance writer and web content creator.



Tanjeria Crite, Intern  [WASHINGTON, DC]

A native of the windy city, Chicago, Illinois Tanjeria Crite is always in search of ways to better polish herself. She is a sophisticated young lady who craves to help others while on her pursuit of success. Therefore, she is always in search of volunteer opportunities. Crite yearns for adventure and desires to communicate across cultures. Learning Chinese and Spanish are some of her current task. Furthermore, since the age of 17 she has been sponsoring a Mozambican child through World Vision. By fulfilling such duties Crite hopes one day to be a well recognized humanitarian.

Currently, Crite attends Howard University as a Junior Supply Chain Management Major with a Minor in Communications and Culture. At school, Crite is a part of organizations that exemplify her values including Circle K International Collegiate Service organization and The National Council of Negro Woman. Having been on the dean’s list since her arrival, she is part of both The National Society of Collegiate Scholars and The Golden Key National Honors Society. Her professional experiences include interning at TechAmerica Technology Association and Chicago Public Schools Central Office. Currently, Crite has joined in the fight against hunger by serving as a Youth Ambassador for Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry Campaign. Crite is dedicated to living up to her name, Tanjeria, which means, well respected.


nspooner_1403024506_12Nyla Spooner, Intern  [HOUSTON, TX]

Nyla Spooner is a child of the city, having been born and raised in the sprawling landscape that is Houston, Texas. Inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit of her father and the daring spirit of her mother, she left the comfort of her 9 to 5 job to begin a consulting company at the age of 26. Combining her public relations  and human resource management experience, she provides business development coaching and implementation services to her clients. The desire to connect with like-minded business women fuels her dedication to our cause. Nyla is passionate about women supporting women. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations from St. Edward’s University and is currently working towards her Masters of Science in Human Resource Development at the University of Houston. Forever a student, Nyla enjoys using her spare time to learn new skills like web and graphic design. In addition to her consulting services, Nyla provides professional support to Walker’s Legacy Atlanta Co-Chair and The B Firm PR Co-Owner, Erica Dias.

Brittany Lester is a native of Compton, California and currently works as a development and administrative associate at a public charter school. Brittany’s passion is working in community. In addition to working in the public school system, she is an advocate for equal access to education. She is also a member of the Howard University Alumni Association and the Los Angeles Urban League – Young Professionals, where currently serves as the Community Service Committee Co-Chair. Brittany holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Howard University in Legal Communication and Entrepreneurship. She obtained her Master of Science in Administration degree from Trinity Washington University. Ms. Lester also enjoys travel, photography and fitness. She currently resides in Los Angeles, California.

Walker’s Legacy is a digital platform for the professional and entrepreneurial multicultural woman and exists to inspire, equip, and engage through thought-provoking content, educational programming, and a global community.
