[Photos] Walker's Legacy Launches in San Antonio

San Antonio, Texas – On January 25, Walker’s Legacy, a national women in business collective with a purpose to continue the enterprising legacy of self-made millionaire Madame C. J. Walker, kicked off its 2014 multi-state organizational roll-out in San Antonio. Through power summits, seminars and online training, the national launches focus on career development, entrepreneurship and inspiration for enterprising women. “The vision for Walker’s Legacy is to inspire, equip and connect a global network of emerging and established businesswomen,” says founder Natalie Madeira Cofield. “As we continue to grow in the area, we look forward to connecting women in San Antonio with the inspirational examples of what it takes to succeed.” [space]

The launch program featured remarks from Lisa Tatum, the first African American elected President of the Texas Bar Association and Principle LM Tatum PLLC, TJ Haygood, notable San Antonio businesswoman and CEO of Confidential Search Solutions and Terry Pierre, a rising San Antonio resident who serves as founder of The Austin Socialite.  The event was held at Eva’s Escape, a woman-owned bed and breakfast located in downtown San Antonio. Walker’s Legacy was founded in 2009 with the mission to enhance leadership skills, create networking and learning opportunities and bring exposure to emerging trends in business for aspiring and professional women of color. Through its interactive programming, the organization has hosted former mayor’s award winning journalists and authors, Forbes ranked businesswomen and entrepreneurs from across the country. Initially established in Washington, DC, the organization has touched thousands of women through its interactive in-person and on-line educational programs. [space]
