Stacey Dash calls for end of Black History Month, BET

Actress: “we need to get rid of channels like BET…It’s a double standard”

Stacey Dash, who is most notable for her role in Clueless, her family relationship with Damon Dash and her previous role as a Black female beauty icon is at it again.   Over the last two years Dash has reinvented herself from an out-of-work actress to a political pundit frequenting the Fox New media outlet.

Not without controversy, Dash has previously challenged the notion of gender and pay equity on The Meredith Vieira Show, where she asserted her belief that women need to stop “making excuses” for the lack of equal pay.

“Either we want to have segregation or integration. If we don’t want segregation, then we need to get rid of channels like BET…It’s a double standard.” Stacey Dash, Fox News, January 20, 2016

But all that pales to her comments today on Fox New where she, in response to recent calls for an Oscar boycott, called for the end of Black History Month and historical channels like Black Entertainment Television (BET).

Stacey is clearly clueless about the history of segregation and discrimination that served as the very basis for the formation of both of these important institutions.   Using her reasoning, why then do we have Women’s History Month, women’s chambers of commerce or better yet networks like Oxygen, which cater to women?
