Tashni-Ann Dubroy will become the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Howard University this fall.
After leading her Alma Mater to increased enrollment and closing a $4 million fundraising gap, she stated: “This was one of the most difficult decisions of my professional life. I am honored that Shaw University’s Board of Trustees entrusted me with the opportunity.“I will always be grateful to Shaw University where I honed my leadership capabilities and expertise in my capacity as its 17th President.” Additionally, as Shaw University’s President since 2015, Dr. Tashni-Ann Dubroy hired a new leadership team, formed industry partnerships with technology companies, and enhanced the presence of the university within Raleigh.
In addition to her Presidential duties, she is also an entrepreneur. After receiving her Bachelor’s at Shaw University, she pursued an MBA from Rutgers University and then a Ph.D. in Physical Organic Chemistry from N.C. State University. As a chemist with an interest in cosmetology, she co-launched Tea and Honey Blends, a line of natural hair care products for multicultural women with Tiffani Lash.
Utilizing her entrepreneurial skills, Shaw University opened an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center in partnership with the Carolina Small Business Development Fund under her command. As a result, she was named a 2017 CEO of the Year by Triangle Business Journal.

As higher education becomes an increasingly more competitive environment, especially for HBCUs, her ability to advance innovation and strategies that lead to key outcomes and process optimization across the University will continue to drive us to a vibrant future.” Tashni-Ann Dubroy’s tenure at Howard University will begin this October.
