Walker’s Legacy and the Michigan Black Chamber of Commerce (MBCC) Women of Color Entrepreneur Circle (WOCEC) partnered to further support Detroit women of color in business through the signing of a joint Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreement.
Through the MOU, the organizations agreed to create partnerships and programs to engage and support women of color and to work jointly to address the professional challenges presented to women of color in entrepreneurship and business in the Greater Detroit Region.
The organizations hosted a press conference at the Build Institute in Detroit, MI to announce the partnership, discuss the state of women of color in Detroit’s economy, and brief the public on upcoming initiatives.
The program featured remarks by Christianna Sims, Program Manager at the Build Institute; Pamela Rodgers, Chairman of the Michigan Black Chamber of Commerce; and Rumia Bank, Board Member of the Michigan Black Chamber of Commerce.
“We’re excited to announce what we know will be a great partnership,” said Natale M. Cofield, Founder & CEO of Walker’s Legacy.
“The Women of Color Entrepreneur Circle Initiative provides a unique, valuable look into the women of Detroit, and it’s a pleasure to further our agenda of economic equity among women of color with them.”Natalie M. Cofield
