At Walker’s Legacy we are committed to ensuring that our endeavors provide the critical support necessary for women to win in 2019 and beyond
Happy New Year!
What an exciting time it is to be a woman in business. Last year we promised you expansion in a few critical areas of our content and programming as part of our 2020 vision for the organization. Throughout 2018 our team worked diligently to establish meaningful relationships, to deepen our market engagement and to create programs to best support each of you.
We are proud to commence 2019 with strategic partners including the recent announcement of our partnership with the Minority Business Development Agency, the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC), the Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, among other notable corporations and nonprofit organizations.
A few of the exciting initiatives that you can look forward to this year include:
Ask a Boss:
Our virtual Ask a Boss series, in partnership with AARP, designed to help women gain insight from some of the nation’s most influential women in business, will relaunch during February 2019. Past series have included notable women from Soledad O’Brien to Beverly Johnson and more.
March Mentorship Madness:
Last year more than 200 women found their match at Walker’s Legacy Meet Your Match Mentor Matchmaking programming. We are excited to bring this program back, helping women of color across the nation pair with leading mentors in the business, nonprofit, education and technology sectors across 10 U.S. cities.
Women of Color in Tech Tour:
We’re partnering with Comcast and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund to produce a series of programs across the nation that empower women of color in tech. Stay tuned for exciting announcements of this forthcoming quarterly tour, set to launch in February, with stops in Atlanta, Houston, Detroit and Philadelphia. And, if you know a womenpreneur in tech who resides in one of these cities, we would love to have her speak. Please have her complete the following speaker form to get involved with our Women of Color in Tech Tour.
