Katrina Turnbow is not an ordinary social media expert from the traditional marketing agency. She has 17+ years of experience as a salesperson who developed her internet knowledge and skills through corporate sales training. Katrina is the founder of her digital marketing firm, Kanopi Social.
As a seasoned professional who has worked with corporations such as Autotrader.com, LivingSocial.com, and Google, Katrina has been at the forefront of changing consumer behaviors as technology continues to progress. She specializes in advising companies on the negative implications of being behind the digital marketing curve.

The Explosion of Online Business
Door-to-door selling became a thing of the past as the digital world began to blow up in 2002. Throughout the following years, Katrina was front and center helping businesses adapt to marketing and advertising through digital platforms and e-commerce. She has helped eBay to grow retail sales, advised and managed dealerships with the launch of Autotrader.com, kicked off the revolution of online sales at LivingSocial.com, and even spent five years as a Marketing Director of an IT Staffing and Consulting company.
Katrina also uses her platform to educate others about the importance and effectiveness of her work. She states that digital marketing has several perks such as brand awareness, cost-effectiveness, and the ability to discover new customers and increase your company’s revenue. Katrina strives to continuously assist others in upgrading their brands in the online world by guiding them along their journey in digital marketing.
Given Katrina’s extensive professional background and years of mastering her expertise, we wanted to share some of her applaud-worthy achievements. Here’s one of Katrina’s many accomplishments throughout her career:
“In 2017, I was identified by Google, as one of nine community leaders passionate about creating economic opportunities for businesses currently underrepresented on the web and in Google’s customer base. I now provide business owners, guidance on improving their web presence, reaching new customers online and growing their business through online advertising platforms.”
Katrina is also a proud graduate of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. In addition, she engages with her hometown community in Detroit, Michigan, where she was recognized as one of the Top 25 Most Influential Women in Detroit in 2013. Katrina was also named in the Michigan Chronicle 40 under 40 Class of 2017.
Career, Community, and Commitment
Katrina holds a diverse and well-rounded skillset within the marketing industry. Aside from running her digital marketing firm, Kanopi Social, Katrina also owns a coworking space in Detroit, hosts a weekly podcast called #TechTalkTuesdays, and holds the title of the Detroit Digital Coach for Google. As the use of the internet for business purposes continued to skyrocket, Katrina made sure to implement the proper tools and techniques to merge her love of technology with her knowledge of traditional corporate training.
In her spare time, Katrina chooses to serve her community. She is a member of numerous organizations including Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Jack and Jill of America, The National Business League, The Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council, and The Minority Business Development Association.
As she continues to focus on decreasing the gap of the digital divide, Katrina prides herself on the use of technology to combine all of her passions. Walker’s Legacy is proud to have Katrina as a part of our community.
