Walker’s Legacy recognizes International Women’s Day, a worldwide movement that celebrates women’s achievements and empowers us all to continue our work to achieve parity and representation in politics, business, education, media, and beyond.
This year’s theme, “Press for Progress” celebrates the global activism that has been ignited by women’s advancements in policy and social change, and social movements like #TimesUp and #MeToo that have included women of all generations and ethnicities.
Organizations ranging from academic institutions to nonprofits, join today in solidarity to recognize the imbalance that still exists among women.
Now more than ever, the Walker’s Legacy mission to educate, inspire, and engage women leaders in business and entrepreneurship with a global community is not only prevalent but necessary to advance the women’s agenda.
“Our work is committed to the empowerment and success of women, and today we note the charge to continue to do more to ensure that progress is made” Natalie M. Cofield, Founder, and CEO, Walker’s Legacy.
Today, more specifically, women….
- Are paid 30% less than their White, male counterparts, almost 50% for women of color.
- Despite this disparity, women are thriving in areas like entrepreneurship, with women of color being the fastest-growing segment of entrepreneurs.
- Women are leading in public office at a record-breaking rate with 575 women who have already declared their intention to run for the House, the Senate, or governor
Whether in Hollywood or in the workplace, women are on the quest for fair, equal treatment. In this Year of the Woman, we recognize that when women thrive, we all thrive.
