An International Go-Getter: Jean Yoon is the First Woman Named Executive Editor for Reuters

Since joining Reuters in 1995, Jean Yoon has been promoted to executive editor, making her the first woman named Executive Editor of Editorial Strategy for the international news agency.   Her current role as the regional editor in Asia and Global Editor of Strategic Centers have fully equipped her for her new New York-Based role.

Yoon has accomplished much over the past 20 years at Reuters from being named Reuters Editor of Year in 2012 for transforming the Asia desk and reshaping the file across the region from opening the doors for Reuters to be honored with a Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) Award for Editorial Excellence at the biggest editorial awards event in the region.   An international entrepreneur; Yoon has worked in Seoul as the chief financial correspondent and in London as UK technology and media correspondent.

According to Reuters Editor-in-Chief Steve Adler, some of Yoon’s responsibility for her new role include taking on responsibility for the global editorial strategy and review and continue to refine the editorial vision. Yoon will also be collaborating with the editorial and functional teams at Reuters to make sure current strategic initiatives are aligned and executed.   Adler also states that Yoon will serve as a central point of contact for short-term and long-term duties while finding a balance in also leading global strategic centers in Bangalore and Gdynia.

Yoon holds a Master’s degree in journalism from New York University. We wish the best of luck to Jean Yoon on her new endeavor.
