Charmion N. Kinder Joins Discovery Education as Communications Director of Corporate Education Partnerships

Communications leader and longtime strategist in government, non-profit, business and advocacy organizations, Charmion Kinder recently began a new position as Director of Communications, Corporate Education Partnerships at Discovery Education. Discovery Education is the global leader in standards-based digital content for K-12, transforming teaching and learning with award-winning digital textbooks, professional development, and the largest professional learning community of its kind.

In her new position, Kinder will be charged with leading all press and strategic outreach efforts for Discovery Education’s team that partners with Fortune 500 companies, non-profits, and associations to build resources – often in underfunded areas such as health and wellness, STEM, college and career readiness, financial literacy, social and emotional learning – that are provided to schools nationwide at no cost. In addition to serving as the lead communications strategist for Discovery Education’s portfolio of public-private partnerships and social impact work, she will develop and execute communications strategies relating to Discovery Education’s narrative across platforms.

Kinder graduated from Howard University’s School of Communications where she received a B.A. in journalism, with a focus on public relations. She then went on to attend Harvard Business School’s Corporate Social Responsibility Executive Education Program in 2016 – Harvard’s social enterprise initiative trains emerging leaders on strategies to create business and social value.

Kinder’s highly decorated resumé also includes serving as Director of Communications for My Brother’s Keeper Alliance, corporate citizenship communications strategist for The Walt Disney Company, Edelman and the Ad Council, and various communications positions for The Obama Administration, including: Assistant Press Secretary for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Associate for the Press Office of First Lady Michelle Obama, and Special Assistant for the U.S. Department of Commerce, Office of Public Affairs.

Through her expertise and commitment to communications, philanthropy, community-based initiatives and mentorship, Charmion Kinder has been able to build a long-standing, successful career. Moving forward, Kinder’s talents will be used to help serve 4.5 million educators, over 50 million students in over half of U.S. schools, 50 percent of all primary schools in the U.K., and in 50 countries around the world that Discovery Education serves. Discovery Education is powered by Discovery Communications (NASDAQ: DISCA, DISCB, DISCK), the number one nonfiction media company in the world. Explore the future of education at
