Chaun Lewis is a strategic thinker and leader with a passion for facilitating the self-discovery of others. Chaun has worked diligently to place herself in spaces that connect to her purpose and allow opportunities to both utilize and grow her skill set. After graduating from Howard University in 2012 and ten years working in the non-profit sector, Chaun became co-owner a real estate investment company focused on helping novice homeowners navigate the selling process. She has also had the privilege to spearhead the strategy behind a founding partnership that was nominated for the Los Angeles Unified School District’s Community Partner award during her time with City Year Los Angeles. Currently, in addition to overseeing her own business, Chaun is the Regional Recruitment Manager for Urban Teachers – Recruiting future teachers that place value in developing the skills, and receiving the hands-on experience to ensure every child receives an equitable education.
At her core, Chaun is a mentor and coach; eager to learn, and excited by this amazing opportunity to be a connector and amplify the voices of LA’s dynamic women of color.
“I was born and raised in Brooklyn and February will mark four years since I’ve uprooted myself with nothing but a dollar and a dream, and moved to Los Angeles alone. Living here has deepened my need for shared experience and visibility. LA women, I see you, and I look forward to taking up space with you,” said Chaun Lewis, Los Angeles City Director at Walker’s Legacy.
“Walker’s Legacy understands that the power of our organization comes from the power of the community that we work hard to build every day,” said Natalie Madeira Cofield, Founder & CEO, “Extending our programming to local markets provides an opportunity to take our digital engagement off-line through meaningful programming and encourages the development of local ecosystems of support that are critical to the women we support. We look forward to working with Chaun Lewis to provide much needed programming, content and engagement to this often overlooked community of enterprising women.”
Chaun Lewis is one of ten (10) Walker’s Legacy City Directors selected from a national call which garnered a pool of more than 100 talented applicants. Selected leaders will aid in furthering the Walker’s Legacy mission in their local business communities through impactful in-person programming and local engagement.
