Woman of Many Trades: Dinai Yelverton CEO of unDINAIable Events

Life is Full of Memorable Moments, Especially for Event Planners

Meet Dinai Yelverton the energetic and gregarious CEO of unDINAIable Events. unDINAIable Events assists in creating memorable experiences through strategic event oversight to ensure every detail and vision is articulated and executed for every client, at every event. In other words, they help bring events to life. Whether it’s a corporate event, brand activation, or wedding, they are equipped to see events through every stage. Most recently they have expanded their service offerings to include experiential event marketing and more sports-related events. Apart from being a boss event planner, Dinai has her hands in many pots. She runs a Mommy Blog titled “Young Working Mommies” while being a mother to her beautiful daughter Dreux and son Dyllan and wife to her husband Derek.

The Past Helps Plan The Future

Before jumping into entrepreneurship, Diani received her MBA from Hampton University. Dinai began her career at KPMG, a global accounting firm in the fall of 2011 as an audit associate in Chicago In February of 2013, Dinai joined AAR CORP., an aviation support company, as an internal auditor. After a year and a half in this capacity, she transitioned into a role within a developing Communication & Marketing department where she managed digital internal and external communications across the entire company, which included conceptualizing, developing, and executing a brand new social media plan.

She also assisted in creating digital marketing material for events such as trade shows and college recruitment activities. While at AAR she worked closely with the U.S. Department of Commerce to plan and execute two private luncheons for C-suite executives, created an annual office-wide series of events for breast cancer awareness, and re-developed and managed a 5-week long mentorship program with local charter school high school students.

Throughout her success, Dinai credits some of her mentors for helping her become the excellent woman she is today. Some were “appointed” in her career and some just happened naturally. She strongly believes in mentor relationships as there is a breadth of knowledge one can obtain just by being in the presence of certain individuals.

“My mentors have kept it real, encouraged me, introduced me to other prominent individuals.”

When I was considering leaving my corporate career as a communications manager, my mentor made it very plain that I was in for a challenge regardless of the decision I made. She said,

“Everything is a challenge but its a matter of what type challenge you are up for.”

Needless to say, I left the company to pursue my dream of owning an event planning agency.

The Plans for the Future

Dinai is currently entering a new venture, which will be the largest project for unDINAIable Events. We are producing a 3-month pop-up mobile tour to bring FREE vision health services to children living in under-served communities in the Chicago area. The tour will launch in Summer 2020. When speaking about this program she exclaimed,

“I am excited to produce something that marries both my passion and purpose into an experience that I can share with my city and our youth!”

Plans Reflect Who you are Within

Dinai Yelverton is more than just an entrepreneur. She is an embodiment of what we should all strive to be. Her impact on Chicago is nothing short of inspiring. She is living to leave a legacy which means everything she does with the intention to do good and provide excellent customer service as well as community service.
