Women to Watch: 8 Women of Color Writing the Newest Chapter of Political HERstory

Yesterday left Americans on the edge of their seats as the 2016 election results continued to roll into the early hours of Wednesday morning. A race often referred to as “too close to call” throughout the evening resulted in President-elect Donald Trump snagging the most electoral votes. Although Hillary Clinton did not make history in her bid for the White House, many women of color broke their own glass ceilings by claiming victories in their respective states.

With the most women now in the United States Senate, Walker’s Legacy highlights eight women of color who found political success in last night’s nail-biter of an election.
