Amid a global pandemic and many new transitions that have begun this year, we continue to see many industries shifting gears. However, one of the key things sustaining us while most of us have been cocooning at home, is the incredible work of creatives and artists. It is artists, musicians, and innovators of all forms whom we must thank for keeping us connected and inspired during unprecedented times.
It is also important to note that creative entrepreneurs constantly have to embark different journeys, not only during unprecedented moments like these. They, like many entrepreneurs need to hone their skills, learn new ones, and aim to translate those skills to propel their businesses. Meet Ashley Kevabon-Stoyanov – a community-builder, writer, and music nonprofit founder who is also on a mission to create opportunities for underrepresented women, femme creators, and entrepreneurs.
Kevabon-Stoyanov is a space maker and the founder of #WomenCrush Music. Through her experience curating her own non-profit, she teaches us that entrepreneurship also takes time and is also an art form. Born out of a dream to be an international touring rock star, her entrepreneurial creative journey led her to eventually create #WomenCrush Music as a platform to uplift rising women songwriters, “whether they are just in the beginning of their careers and want to start performing at local venues, or they’ve just released their second album and are ready to go on tour. #WomenCrush Music has connected artists with future collaborators, educated them about the business, and inspired them to make an impact in a male-dominated industry.”
The organization has now reached thousands of music-lovers and rising women songwriters across 16 North American cities. #WomenCrush Music has also hosted over 150 events across 16 North American cities. Ashley has been featured on panels and interviewed on national media outlets spreading the mission of #WomenCrush Music. Through her love of music she has also found herself motivated to help founders, creative startups, and local businesses develop their business strategy and build their online and offline community. She is also the Community Director at the digital media publication and network known as The Mujerista.
