Walker’s Legacy Hosts Sold Out Power50 Brunch in Washington, DC

On Saturday March 26, 2016, nearly 200 women joined Walker’s Legacy for a power-packed inspirational #WLPower50 Summit in Washington, DC at The Hamilton Live. The event included keynote presentations, panels, and networking.  Among the exciting announcements that day, the Minority Business Development Agency announced a partnership which included providing one-on-one business coaching sessions with entrepreneurs before and during the event. Founder Natalie M. Cofield announced big plans for the organization which included creation of the Walker’s Legacy Foundation, poised to assist low-income women; a new Values Partnership that will increase the pipeline of women of color on NBC’s Shark Tank, as well as a video from Advisory Board member Nimi Akinkungbe announcing plans for global expansion to Lagos, Nigeria. We were actually discussing mentorship at a local event we had in Palm Beach county and I brought up the fact that the kidpreneur behind Sweet Bee Lemonade has mentorship from Walker’s Legacy and she’s using her grandmother’s recipe…. she has a stable support system around her to help her succeed. It’s so important that minority business owners focus on mentorship to consistently grow, learn, adapt and flourish.
