Foundation to support single mothers, college/university age women and micro-enterprise
Washington, DC — Walker’s Legacy, a global women in business collective, is proud to announce the launch of the Walker’s Legacy Foundation (WLF) designed to support the agenda of economic and entrepreneurial empowerment for women and girls of color. The Walker’s Legacy Foundation is guided by the philanthropic legacy of Madam C. J. Walker and her cause of economic empowerment for women funded through her entrepreneurial successes.
“The Walker’s Legacy Foundation will support our mission to empower an even greater number of women. Many of whom have business and entrepreneurial aspirations, yet fall close to or beneath the poverty line or may be first generation college students who lack the access to education, exposure and resources needed to be successful,” stated Natalie Madeira Cofield, founder of both the Walker’s Legacy Foundation and Walker’s Legacy.
While Walker’s Legacy, a multimedia entrepreneurship platform, has focused on building eco-systems of support for professional women and existing entrepreneurs, the Walker’s Legacy Foundation will focus on three core areas which include: programs to support single mothers, university and college-age women and micro-enterprise.
Future growth of the WLF will include international engagement and expansion that will follow Walker’s Legacy’s growing global footprint.
