Walker’s Legacy Releases Fast Fact Sheet On Native Women Entrepreneurs In Honor Of Native American Heritage Month.

The digital platform for multicultural women in business and entrepreneurship commemorates Native American Heritage Month with the release of research on Native women entrepreneurs.

Washington, DC—November 5, 2020—Walker’s Legacy, the largest digital platform for multicultural women in business, proudly recognizes November as Native American Heritage Month. In support of Native American Heritage Month and Native businesswomen, Walker’s Legacy has released a Native Women Entrepreneur Fast Fact sheet available for download on walkerslegacy.com under research.

“Supporting Native businesses, specifically Native women-owned businesses, has never been more important. During the month of November we intend to highlight and honor Native American Heritage Month through a number of new initiatives commencing with the release of our Native Women Entrepreneur Fast Fact Sheet,” said Natalie Cofield.

During Native American Heritage Month, Walker’s Legacy seeks to bring awareness to Native women entrepreneurs and all the challenges they face. Below are a few figures from the Walker’s Legacy Native Women Entrepreneur Fast Fact Sheet that showcase the expanding presence of Native women entrepreneurs in the business landscape:

• Last year, Native Americans/Alaskan Natives owned 1.4% of all women-owned businesses (an estimated 161,500), employing 61,300 workers and generating $11 billion in revenues. (1) 
• Since 1997, women-owned businesses grew by 114%, while Native women-owned businesses grew by 201%. (2)
• As of 2019, Native American/Alaska Native women-owned businesses:
  • Numbered 180,300 or 1.4% of all women-owned businesses. (3)
  • Have grown at an annual rate for the past year of 6% compared to 4.7% annual growth between 2014 and 2019. (3)
  • Earned average revenue per firm of $68,500 vs. $142,900 among all women-owned businesses. (3)

The Walker’s Legacy Native Women Entrepreneur Fast Fact Sheet shines a light on the challenges and over-comings that Native women in business face through statistical data. Understanding the systematic inequalities between Native women in business and their various counterparts is crucial to establish change and growth for this community of aspiring women.
